raiueow

日本語 | English | GitHub

The raiueow layers form a 5-layer directory framework for knowledge management in the age of AI.

Layer name Description
raw/ Store raw information
riw/ Store LLM output
ruw/ Store information you have written yourself
rew/ Store information you want to submit
row/ Write down the essence in bullet points (optional)

The name “aiueo” comes from the Japanese “あいうえお” — the equivalent of “abcde” in English. In other words, the framework is built around the five stages: a → i → u → e → o.

About each layer

raw/

riw/

ruw/

In raiueow, you start by moving back and forth between raw/, riw/, and ruw/. Traversing this triangle is how you deepen your understanding.

rew/

Write down what has “come into view” through the triangle. It needs to be polished to a level that can be submitted as-is, but the assumed format is plain text such as Markdown (i.e., rich formats or visuals such as PDFs and slides are not assumed).

How much to rely on AI depends on the context and your capabilities. If the recipient is tolerant of AI output, and your own mental processing is rich enough that you can “reconstruct what was meant on the spot even from rough notes,” then relying on AI output is fine. Otherwise, you will likely end up writing it by hand. It also depends on the recipient — in the extreme, if the recipient is only “your future self,” you can be quite lenient, or conversely you may insist on writing it yourself. In short, it is case by case.

row/

This is optional; you don’t have to write it. It can be for yourself, or for submission, or treated as something you won’t submit but is “fine to be seen.”

The distinguishing feature of row/ is that it is written concisely in bullet points. Only those who have thought deeply and written through the triangle and rew/ can write row/. You can have an AI generate it, but the quality probably won’t be satisfying. If anything, row/ is a self-indulgent treasure.
